Fuck! “Diesel Power”! I was in high school, in the midwest, when The Fat of The Land came out, and words cannot fully express the shockwaves it sent through the kids in my school. It was like a burning bush moment for all the punk rock and metal kids, which there were many, since they had been brought face to face with something totally unreal that changed their whole worldview. They had all seen that you could have loud, rebellious, aggressive music without guitars. Seriously, the first night the “Firestarter” video aired on MTV made all the punks and metalheads decide to start rolling E and see that there was a whole world beyond what they had known.

It didn’t have a huge of an impact on me, though, since at that time I was already the proto-PC GAMING MASTER RACE! kid who spent his weekends at LAN parties in basements, listening to KMFDM.
